After Ryan Edwards checked out of rehab, things didn't start off smoothly with his baby mama, Maci Bookout. As seen on previous episodes, she demanded that if he wanted to see his son, Bentley, he would have to pass a drug screening at her expense. As previously reported, the Teen Mom OG dad has passed the drug tests and remained sober, but their custody battle isn't over yet!

“Ryan has seen him a few times,” the insider said.

Adding, “It’s what Maci decides when she wakes up each morning. It’ll be consistent, then it won’t be, then it’ll be consistent again. It depends on her mood for day.”

On a recent episode, Ryan contacted a lawyer to discuss fighting for a written out custody plan for the 9-year-old. “If you’re not married, you don’t have rights as a father,” the insider explained. “The case is still in progress.”

Since leaving treatment, Ryan has had Bentley for a “considerable amount of time.” “He loves his son,” the insider said.

The insider said,“He hates himself, but he loves his son.”

Ryan has passed several drug tests since leaving rehab earlier this summer. “He’s seven months sober this month,” a source told Radar. He has also been involved in an outpatient program.

“Everyone is blown away by how well Ryan has been doing,” the source said. “His family and friends can’t imagine how hard it is for him to fight his addiction every day.”
