Lawsuit Bombshell! Mary-Kate Olsen Discusses Married Life Amid Shocking Intern Wage Scandal

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have spent much of their lives in the public eye, but in recent years, the famed twins have succeeded in keeping their private lives under wrap. But in this week alone, much has been revealed about the tight-lipped ladies, from Mary-Kate’s married life to the ugly truth behind their business empire!
In an interview with Net-A-Porter.com’s digital magazine The Edit, Mary-Kate finally spoke up about what it’s like to be a married woman! The 30-year-old business mogul married 47-year-old French banker Olivier Sarkozy reportedly in November 2015 at a private home in New York City.
“I have a husband, two step kids, and a life; I have to go home and cook dinner,” Mary-Kate explained. “I run on the weekend. You find the thing that helps you relax and if you don’t have it, you have to look for it. Or you get burned out and then you’re not productive.”
Despite her opinion on the need to find balance, it doesn’t seem like Mary-Kate or her sister Ashley extended that same courtesy to their interns at the sisters’ fashion brand, The Row. Just yesterday, the twins agreed to pay over $140,000 to a group of 185 interns who worked unpaid at the company prior to 2016.

“You’re like an employee, except you’re not getting paid,” Shahista Lalani, the intern who filed the class action suit in 2015, claimed. “They’re kind of mean to you. Other interns have cried. I’d see a lot of kids crying doing coffee runs, photocopying stuff.”
Shahista alleged that she and other interns would work 50-hour weeks, lift “50 pounds worth of trench coats” in 100 degree heat, and answer emails into the wee hours. Mary-Kate and Ashley’s $140,000 pay out will come to $530 per intern.
According to a Manhattan Supreme Court filing by the twins’ attorney, the deal was made to “avoid the uncertainties of litigation,” and “the deal allows the company to deny any wrongdoing,” Page Six noted.
