Meghan Markle is recovering after the birth of her son, Archie, on Monday, May 6. However, she continued her royal duties by sending a prerecorded message to the Campaign for Female Education "Education Is Everything" Gala in New York City on Thursday.
The CAMFED organization aims to "break the cycle of poverty & inequality in rural Africa by educating girls and investing in economic & leadership opportunities for young women,” and in her speech Meghan, 37, stressed the importance of female education.
"As I said on International Women's Day, a girl who is educated becomes a woman who is influential," the Duchess said. "The Queen's Commonwealth Trust wants to champion, fund and connect young leaders."
Education that is accessible to women and girls is a cause close to Meghan's heart. Back in March, she made a similar speech on an International Women’s Day panel.

“When women miss out on careers, education or opportunities because of the system that they live in, we all suffer,” she said at the time.
On Wednesday, May 8, Meghan and Prince Harry officially showed baby Archie to the world in a touching Instagram post. In the picture, the proud parents were joined by Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, and Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland.
