Meghan Markle had her first solo appearance with Queen Elizabeth today, and judging by the photos, the Duchess of Sussex was a hit with her new grandmother-in-law!
Meghan and the Queen were spotted arriving in the town of Cheshire, England, via train. The two were all smiles as they waved to the awaiting crowds.
First on the pair’s agenda was meeting with local schoolchildren. Meghan was super gracious as she accepted flowers from her young greeter!
The two then enjoyed a performance by the youngsters.

According to the Queen’s former press secretary, Charles Anson, Meghan’s “away day” with the Queen is an important part of her royal training. “It is the way of the royal family — all part of the training and getting used to being in public life and under public scrutiny. Showing people the ropes is a high priority for the Queen,” he told People.
