The cake, designed by Claire Ptak of London-based bakery Violet Cakes, is a light spounge cake with elderflower syrup and a filling made from Amalfi lemon curd and elderflower buttercream. It was also decorated with Swiss meringue buttercream and 150 fresh flowers. Yum!
"The texture is really lovely and the flavor is quintessentially spring and British,” Claire said about her creation in a video released by Kensington Palace on Friday. Turns out, the cake itself took five days and six extra bakers for it to come alive. Nice work!
