Meghan Markle landed the most eligible bachelor in England when she married Prince Harry in May 2018, but way before that fateful first meeting, she asked a pal to set her up with a "famous" British man. Scroll through for details!
Meghan, 37, became friends with TV host Lizzie Cundy after accompanying her to a charity dinner in 2013. It was then that the American actress asked Lizzie to find her a suitor.
"We were having a girly chat and then she said, ‘Do you know any famous guys? I’m single and I really love English men’. So I said, ‘We’ll go out and find you someone,’" Lizzie told The Sun.
Meghan was spending time in London following her divorce from first husband Trevor Engelson in August 2013. The Suits star allegedly told Lizzie she was looking to have fun and party with U.K. celebrities, and she was intrigued when Lizzie brought up soccer player Ashley Cole.

"I was thinking about some of the Chelsea lot and I thought of Ashley as he’d split from Cheryl Cole. I showed her a photo of Ashley and she was like, ‘Oh yeah, he’s cute. Does he have a reputation?’ I was like, ‘Well, yeah, but you’re only here to have a bit of fun,'” the 50-year-old explained.
When Lizzie learned of Meghan's romance with Harry, 34, she shot her friend a text. "I texted saying, ‘Oh my god, I heard about Harry’. And she was like, ‘Yeah I know. We’ll try and hook up,'" she recalled.
That meetup never happened and Meghan vanished from Lizzie's life. "She was probably told by the Palace to end contact with people she befriended in the media. I was literally ghosted by her," Lizzie revealed.
