Mel Gibson has a new reason to lose his mind. The troubled Hollywood star is enraged that Fox’s TV reboot of his hit film series, Lethal Weapon, has become a ratings success. And it’s all the Oscar-winning director can think about!
“Mel is agitated at even the semi-success of Fox’s Lethal Weapon TV series, despite claiming to have never watched an episode,” a source told exclusively.
According to the insider, Mel “has barely contained rage about the series,” which stars Clayne Crawford as Martin Riggs and Damon Waynes as Roger Murtaugh, the LA-based cop team made famous in the 1980s and 1990s by Mel and his co-star Danny Glover in four hit Lethal Weapon movies.
The TV series’ showrunner Matt Miller previously said during a press tour that his proudest thing about the remake is “you watch it and don’t of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover,” Variety reported. And according to the OK! insider, that’s exactly what’s upsetting Mel the most!

“He’s just annoyed that this TV series is out there and making people forget about the big chunk of his life he devoted to making those four films huge hits,” claimed the source. And he’s especially ticked that the TV series has put a dent in his own plans for a film reboot.
“It’s definitely weakened hopes for a Lethal Weapon film relaunch he’s been working on with original writer Shane Black,” said the insider. “He wants the show to go away and rants and raves about it non-stop.”
