Michelle Duggar Of 19 Kids And Counting Gives Parenting Advice To Parents-To-Be Jill And Derick Dillard!
Michelle Duggar of TLC reality show 19 Kids And Counting could probably write an encyclopedia about being a parent, since she has 19 kids and even a few grandchildren! So when a fan asked the parenting advice she’d give her daughters, she had a lot to say on her blog.
Her advice comes at a perfect time since her daughter Jill, 23, and her husband Derick Dillard, 25, are expecting their first baby in March.
Michelle, however, said she’d give her daughters the same advice she’d give any expectant parents.
"Well, I think it'll probably be the same advice I give to any other new mom, except for the fact that I will be saying, 'Now, if you need a babysitter, you know grandma is just down the road, and I'd be so happy to help you whenever you need a date night with your sweetie!'" she wrote.

She also recommended that couples continue to work on their own relationship while venturing into parenting. Michelle, who has been married to Jim Bob for 30 years, said date night should be a priority.

"It's important to keep that focus on building and strengthening your marriage relationship because that gives your children stability in their lives," she wrote. "When they see mom and dad are making it a priority to love each other and focus on their relationship, it reminds them that their parents love each other and that their relationship is a top priority in the family."
And as any parent knows, it’s important to care for yourself, according to Michelle, who advised parents to get the right amount of sleep each night.

"Try to get a nap in when the baby takes a nap, especially while you're breastfeeding the baby," she wrote. "You can see everything that needs to be done around the house. You need to catch up on laundry; you need to do some cleaning; you want to do some ironing -- whatever. But just take that break and sleep, even if it's just an hour while the baby is sleeping."
Michelle offered one last piece of advice: To “cherish the moments” together. “Take lots of pictures and make a lot of sweet memories of that special time,” she wrote.
