Missy Elliott Just Became The First Female Rapper To Receive Honorary Doctorate From Berklee

“This year’s honorary doctorate recipients are being recognized for their achievements and influences in music, and for their enduring global impact,” the college said in a statement.
The hip-hop and pop pioneers documented their momentous achievements on Instagram and showed off their fancy new degrees!

The "Work It" singer made history at the ceremony by becoming the first female rapper in history to ever receive an honorary doctorate from the prestigious university. Berklee called Missy a “groundbreaking solo superstar, pioneering producer, songwriter, singer, and rapper.”
