NeNe Leakes’ exit ahead of The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Season 8 came as quite a shock for fans of the hit reality TV series. But her decision to quit the show may turn out to be quite the gift for her bank account as producers begin their casting discussions for RHOA’s Season 9!
A source speaking to RadarOnline.com revealed that Leakes has been offered $2.5 million to return to RHOA for Season 9 — which makes for a $500,000 raise from her previous salary for the show!
“NeNe is always a ratings plus for the show,” the source said. “And the producers want to make sure the show stays strong. The reason it stays strong is NeNe, so they’re throwing money at her.”
Leakes was featured in just a few of RHOA’s Season 8 episodes, mainly during the girls’ trip to Jamaica. But the source said that Bravo execs want Leakes back as a RHOA regular following the casting struggles that came with RHOA’s latest full-time housewife, Kim Fields!

“Kim was not good,” the insider said. “The show needed NeNe to make her interesting, and they know that.”
However, the source admitted that securing the RHOA vet’s return won’t be an easy task for the show's team.
“NeNe always holds out for as much money as she can get,” the source said. “She will string the Bravo people along forever in order to cash in.
