Niall Horan is setting the record straight. The One Direction alum opened up about the swirling romance rumors between him and Selena Gomez. Niall, 26, and the “Lose You To Love Me” singer were seen spending time together in October, which fueled speculation about a possible relationship.
On December 3, Niall appeared on the Australian podcast Brekkie Crew, and revealed his relationship status. "Do I have a girlfriend? I don't, no" he said on the latest episode. "I'm very much single. Very much single."
Niall added that since he is a celebrity, people are quick to assume he’s dating someone just because he’s photographed with them. “It doesn’t make a difference. If I am seeing someone, if they’re just a friend of mine, people think I’m going out with them,” he said. “That’s the most annoying part, isn’t it really? I can’t even be friends with a female.”
Although he’s unattached, the “Nice To Meet Ya” singer said that right now, he’s focused on his career. “But it’s not like you really ever go out of the way to properly look for love. If it comes to you, it comes to you, and if something falls in your way or you meet someone or whatever, then fair enough. And then, yeah, just kind of see what happens.”
Romance rumors between Selena, 27, and Niall sparked in October, when they were photographed together as they grabbed dinner with friends. They stood next to each other in the picture, as Niall put his arm around the Spring Breakers star. The “Slow Hands” singer also raised eyebrows when he posted two heart emojis in the comments section of Selena’s Instagram post as she promoted “Lose You To Love Me.”

At the time, a source for E! News addressed the speculation regarding the two musicians."Selena and Niall are not dating and have been hanging out as friends," the insider said. “They have always been good friends and have kept in touch throughout the years."
In December 2015, Selena and Niall reportedly made out at Jenna Dewan’s 35th birthday party. “Niall and Selena were seen kissing in the middle of the club, in front of everyone,” an eyewitness confirmed to Us Weekly at the time, along with the fact that they left the celebration together.
