Niecy Nash is making her separation from Jay Tucker official. The Claws star filed for divorce from the electrical engineer on December 12 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles. Niecy, 49, and Jay got married in 2011, and announced in October 2019 that they were separating.
According to the court papers, the case is listed as “dissolution without minor children.”
On October 30, Niecy announced on Instagram that the couple was separating in a joint statement. "We believe in the beauty of truth. Always have," her Instagram update read. "Our truth is that in this season of our lives, we are better friends than partners in marriage. Our union was such a gorgeous ride. And as we go our separate ways now, we feel fortunate for the love we share – present tense."
The former couple concluded the message by thanking fans for their love and support throughout the marriage. “Thank you all out there for your support of us as a couple over the last eight years,” they said. “We are grateful. Niecy Nash + Jay Tucker.”

Two weeks after Jay and Niecy made their separation public, the Getting On star opened up about her breakup with Jay. "For us, it's easy, because we love each other," she shared. "The love has just taken on a different form, but he's always gonna be my friend. Always."
When it comes to getting back out into the dating world, the former Dancing With The Stars contestant is in no rush. "I'm just over here drinking my water and healing," she said with a smile. "I ain't ready to put all this back on the block. It's too much too soon."
Jay and Niecy got engaged in September 2010 .“I cannot believe that God has been this kind that he would gift me this man,” Niecy said at the time. The couple got married at an outdoor ceremony at the Church Estate Vineyard in Malibu the following May.
This is the Masters of Sex actress’ second marriage. She was previously married to Don Nash from 1994 to 2007, and share three children together: daughters Dia and Donielle, and son, Dominic.
