Famed 90s police drama NYPD Blue is coming back to the small screen with a sequel reboot set to air on its original network, ABC. The original series focused on a set of the 15th Precinct cops roaming and fighting crime on the streets of New York. Keep reading to hear about the new revival.
The reboot will center on the son of Detective Sipowicz (played by lead Dennis Franz in the original), who is now rolling with the new 15th precinct crew and is attempting to earn his detective badge while investigating the murder of his late father.
The viewers will not be seeing Dennis in the new series as he has expressed his disinterest in acting and returning to his Emmy-winning role.
“I did receive a call, and I’m flattered but not interested. NYPD Blue was a high point in my life and career, and I think of it so fondly. I wish them all well and much success," the 73-year-old told Deadline.
