Patrick Dempsey is facing some serious allegations following his firing from Grey’s Anatomy in April -- that his departure from the show was the result of his fling with a staffer on set! And a source speaking with RadarOnline.com has revealed some new details on the reported relationship and it’s impact on the actor’s marriage and career.
“Patrick’s affair with the staffer on the show began last August,” the show source said. “It was obvious to everyone Patrick was sleeping with her,” the insider told Radar. “It got very messy and emotional on set and became a huge liability.”
The source added, “Patrick would remain in his trailer after hooking up with her on set and refuse to come out. He had also been complaining about the storyline of his character, and felt he wasn’t getting enough screen time.”
The insider said that Dempsey’s behavior frustrated Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes, and he was “suspended” for a short amount of time but eventually rejoined the cast. “Shonda doesn’t put up with any off-screen antics,” said the source.

However, all wasn’t well upon his return. “There were lingering feelings of anger towards Patrick, and it was only getting worse,” the source said. “This is when he began showing up late, not remembering lines. Shonda had no other choice but to fire him.”

And a source speaking to In Touch revealed that matters got even worse when his co-star Ellen Pompeo learned about the affair and informed his wife Jillian Fink. “Ellen Pompeo found out and was angry because she’s close friends with Jillian, so of course, she told her,”the insider said.
This indiscretion reportedly led to the actor’s divorce from Fink and Rimes deciding to write him off the show, the insider added. A rep for Dempsey called the fling reports “absurd” and Rimes has yet to comment on the talk.
