Patrick Dempsey and wife Jillian celebrated their latest wedding anniversary on Tuesday. The pair marked the occasion by returning to the site of their union. Read on more about their sweet milestone and find out why it was especially significant for the happy couple.
Over on his Instagram, the Grey’s Anatomy star posted a picture of the two sharing a smooch into front of a white gazebo. “This spot 19 years ago, today!,” he captioned it simply.
Jillian posted a picture of her own as well. She shared a snap of a beautiful vase of flowers and wrote, “Gorgeous arrangement! Happy 19th Anniversary @patrickdempsey ???.”
The pair first tied the knot back in 1999 and they share three children together –Talula Fyfe, Sullivan Patrick, and Darby Galen.

Though things are smooth sailing between the couple now, this wasn’t the case three years ago. In January of 2015, Jillian filed for divorce.
When asked about the situation in 2016, after the divorce was called off, Patrick said, “It’s always destabilizing when you’re potentially breaking up a family or you have a big section of your life that’s ending.”
However, he and Jillian were willing to put in the hard work needed to save their marriage. “Our union has to be the priority. I wasn’t prepared to give up on her and she wasn’t either. We both wanted to fight for it,” he explained.
