The award ceremony, which honors children ages 6-14 who embody character and resilience, was off to a roaring start on Tuesday when host David Williams took advantage of his time at the mic to take some shots at Prince William in his introduction.
The comedian got the crowd going with, “Lower your expectations. He’s not the ginger one, he’s the other one. He is the most important one, even though George Clooney didn’t show up for his wedding.”
He added another zinger: “You must always address him as ma’am and wait until he curtsies first.”

That’s when Prince William, just before he handed out awards to the youngsters, took a moment to throw some hilarious shade at David: “I’m not sure what’s more scary—being up here after David Williams…. or following those trousers.” After he said this, he pointed to the man who was seated next to him on stage wearing pink striped pants. The crowd erupted with laughter.
Though his humor was a big hit, the father of three (whose wife is Kate Middleton) turned serious as he celebrated the children and even took time to sit down with them through the reception and hear about the projects they’re working on.
