A very pregnant Meghan Markle went to the Mayhew Animal Welfare Charity in London on Wednesday, January 16, and while meeting with staff, volunteers and beneficiaries, one woman gave the Duchess Of Sussex quite the bold comment — calling her a "fat lady!" Scroll through to find out how she responded.
Meghan, who is expecting her first child with husband Prince Harry in the next few months, probably wasn't delighted to hear a stranger call her a "fat lady." Nevertheless, in royalty fashion, the 37-year-old responded with the utmost elegance.
According to People, a Jamaican woman by the name of Peggy McEachrom told the royal, "What a lovely lady you are. May God bless you." She quickly added, "And you're a fat lady!" Meghan immediately let out a big laugh and told the woman, “I’ll take it!”
During her visit, the mother-to-be had a behind-the-scenes look at a number of projects run by the charity, which was created to improve the lives of animals, people, and to better communities both in London and internationally. Some of the Mayhew animal shelter projects include animal therapy visits, working with homeless people and their pets, as well as international projects like dog rabies vaccinations in Kabul.
