Shay Mitchell tearfully opened up about her devasting miscarriage, her current pregnancy and her relationship with boyfriend Matte Babel. The Pretty Little Liars star revealed all in a new video posted on her vlog, entitled Almost Ready, on Wednesday, July 17.
Shay, 32, announced in January 2019 that she had suffered a miscarriage in 2018. "The support and affection that so many of you show me lifts me up during even my darkest days, one of which happened last year after I miscarried and lost the child of my hopes and dreams," she wrote to her fans on New Year's Day.
Shay announced her pregnancy last month with a gorgeous maternity shoot.
The Canadian native also revealed whys he decided to wait until her third trimester to announce her baby news. She explained, "I chose to hold on until I announced because of the first time. It didn't go as I had hoped for, and it was extremely difficult."
In the video, the You actress opened up about her TV host beau. "Matt and I started quietly dating about three years ago," she said. "I guess you could say we're best friends now."

"The first time that I was pregnant last year, Matt and I hadn't been planning, it happened and we were really excited about it," Shay added. "I was like 14 weeks, at that point, I had no idea the percentage of miscarriages. When it happened I was just, completely blindsided by it."
The Bliss author then broke down in tears and admitted that she still has the ultrasound photos. "And it's weird because, I haven't looked at them, obviously," she sobbed. "But, it's not like I forgot about that happening, so of course I'm like super happy, but I still feel for that one that I lost."
The couple announced they are having a baby girl later with an elaborate Power Rangers-theme gender reveal.
