A friend of the royal told The Sun that Harry bought the gift with his late mother, Princess Diana, in mind.
"She loved all the old classics and Harry had the brilliant idea of starting a little library of first editions for Louis, Charlotte, and George,” the source told the newspaper.
“He originally wanted to get Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass, which was on sale for £24,000, but decided Winnie the Pooh would be more suitable for a first time,” the insider explained.
Harry spent 8,000 euros on the first edition Winnie the Pooh, which equates to about $9,400.
Prince Louis was christened today at the Chapel Royal at St. James’ Palace in London. Prince Harry attended with his wife Meghan Markle. Kate Middleton’s sister Pippa, who is pregnant with her first child, was present as well.
