Two years ago today, Princess Charlotte was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, at 8:34am. The little royal was the first girl for Kate Middleton and Prince William, who named their daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Diana in honor of both William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and mother, Princess Diana. Charlotte joined her big brother, Prince George, who had always been the center of attention before her arrival. But in the two years since her birth, Charlotte has managed to become an equally adorable scene-stealer! When Charlotte was born in 2015, hundreds of royal fans surrounded the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital to sneak a peak of the newborn royal before her parents whisked her away to Kensington Palace. A reserved royal already, Charlotte didn’t make a sound as her parents showed her off to the cheering crowd.
Knowing the public was dying for another glimpse of their little girl, Kate and Will soon released their first official photo of Charlotte via their Instagram account, @kensingtonroyal. Kate herself took the pics, which showed Prince George holding his two-weeks-old little sister.
In July 2015, the royal family stepped out for Charlotte’s christening at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Norfolk, England. It was the little royal’s second official public appearance, and she looked like such a princess in her hand-stitched gown!
A few months later, Kate released a photo she took of her youngest, giggling as she played with a toy dog. “The Duke and Duchess…hope that everyone enjoys these lovely photos as much as they do,” the caption read.
For Christmas, royal fans got quite the treat when Kate and Will shared a new photo of their family of four for their annual Christmas card. Charlotte sat nestled on her mom’s knee while George flashed his signature grin for the camera!
Kate and Will even let fans in on their family vacation when they released a photo with their children in the French Alps. Charlotte looked too cute in her white snowsuit and pink snow hat!

By her first birthday, Charlotte had reached a major milestone: her first steps! The family shared a pic of the royal cutie walking in their backyard, captioning it, “The Duke and Duchess are very happy to be able to share these important family moments.”
In June 2016, little Charlotte made her third public appearance when she watched the Royal Air Force fly over Buckingham Palace to celebrate her great-grandma the Queen’s 90th birthday. She matched her mom looking pretty in pink!
By the time she was just 16 months, it was time for Charlotte’s first royal tour! The one-year-old flew with her parents and her brother to Canada, where she looked like a natural as she de-boarded the plane.
While in Canada, Charlotte attended a children’s party for military families, where we learned she really loves balloons.
As she boarded a seaplane to leave with her family, Charlotte showed she already has her royal wave down pat.
In December, Charlotte looked adorable as she struck a funny pose while heading to Christmas Day service with her family.
All grown up! Leading up to Charlotte’s second birthday, the royal family released another picture of Charlotte, naturally taken by her mom Kate, looking picture perfect in a yellow sweater and her hair tucked back in a blue bow.
