The wedding of the year in 2018 will no doubt be Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s, as the lead up to it is already causing quite the commotion for the two of them. One item in particular that has the public divided down the middle is her $75,000 engagement dress that was just revealed on Thursday! Some are saying that it is totally appropriate for the occasion, while others think it may be a bit too extravagant. Click-through for the details.
The official portraits were released only days after Kensington Palace announced that the two would wed on May 19th, 2018 at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
Meghan looked simply stunning in her glittery couture gown by British fashion designers Ralph & Russo. The handmade gown’s estimated cost was a whopping $75,000. Kensington Palace also confirmed that the gown was “privately purchased.”
It's from Ralph & Russo’s autumn/winter 2016 collection. The gown is floor-length black tulle featuring a silk organza skirt, hand appliqued with silk tulle ruffles, and an entirely sheer bodice decorated with intricate gold feather thread-work. Meghan is committing herself to British fashion in this instance by wearing and supporting such a high-profile British designer in her new role as member of the royal family.
The label is run by Australian couple Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo, whose other major celebrity clients include Angelina Jolie & Blake Lively, just to name a few.

Although the gown is undeniably gorgeous, it has not be an unanimous hit on social media. Users have questioned if the dress is a bit too extravagant, whereas others think it is downright perfect for a princess.
Comments include “The Prince and the showgirl. Lol what is she wearing???” to “Meghan Markle with the sheer top. Bring it girl!!” and “Meghan Markle is absolutely gorgeous!”
It is only a matter of time until their wedding in May, when the public will be divided even more as to what gorgeous gown Meghan will wear as she heads down the aisle and becomes a member of the royal family!
