According to E! News, the former guardsman opened up to UK's The Times about how one of her strolls on the palace grounds nearly ended tragically.

Not recognizing her majesty at first, he claims he shouted, "Who's that?," before realizing it was the Queen! The guard then blurted out, "Bloody hell, Your Majesty, I nearly shot you!"

And according to the guard, she replied, "That's quite all right. Next time I'll ring through beforehand so you don't have to shoot me."
