Christmas is still a few days away, but Queen Elizabeth II has already kicked off her holiday festivities. The UK monarch was spotted at King's Lynn railway station in Norfolk after she caught a train up from London.

The 92-year-old protected herself against the December chill. She donned a long light brown coat, black gloves, and wrapped a scarf around her head.

It has become customary for Queen Elizabeth to travel up to the Sandringham House residence in Norfolk the day after her pre-Christmas lunch party at Buckingham Palace. She is usually joined by her husband Prince PhilipHowever, he was nowhere to be found.

The Duke, who officially retired from royal duties in May 2017, primarily resides in Windsor. But in the spirit of the holidays, the 97-year-old was able to make it down to London in order to enjoy the festive lunch.

The pre-Christmas brunch itself is the perfect opportunity for the Queen to spend quality time with the extended members of the royal family.  Some of the royal attendees of Wednesday’s meal included: Prince Harry and MeghanPrince William and KateMike and Zara Tindall, and Peter and Autumn Phillips.

On Christmas Day, after attending a church service at St Mary's Magdalene, the Queen and the rest of the royal family will head back to Sandringham House and enjoy another traditional meal together.
