Queen Elizabeth Just Gave Kate Middleton The Best Wedding Anniversary Present Ever!
April 29 2019, Updated 9:20 p.m. ET
Kate Middleton has a lot to celebrate today! She and husband Prince William commemorated their eighth wedding anniversary on April 29. So Queen Elizabeth gave her granddaughter-in-law the best gift possible. She appointed Kate to be the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order!
The honor is one of the highest ranking positions in the order personally granted by the Queen and is given to the individual who best represents her.
The Royal Victorian Order was forged by Queen Victoria in 1896 and the ruling monarch personally selects the recipient of the honor.
Kate follows in the footsteps of past Dames and Knights before her like the Queen’s sons Prince Andrew and Prince Edward as well as Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Prince Harry and the Queen's husband, Prince Philip, were appointed the honor in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
Kate and William famously tied the knot in 2011 in a big white wedding at Westminster Abbey. The couple welcomed three children — George, 5, Charlotte, 3, and Louis, 12 months, subsequent years later.
