Famed radio host Bobby Bones just scored himself a huge new gig that will have people not only hearing him, but seeing him in a major way as he is the new mentor on the upcoming revival of American Idol!
Bobby, who went into national syndication with his hit radio program The Bobby Bones Show back in 2013, announced the exciting news on his Twitter Wednesday.
"Finally I get to say something,” he shared. "I'm joining American Idol this season. I will be the mentor to all top 24 contestants. And I appreciate you guys for letting it happen.”
He then made it super official when he shared a photo of himself in front of the Idol set, captioning the pic with "Just so you know it's official ... here I am in a T-shirt that's slightly too big for me. Standing next to an American Idol logo! Gets no more official than that. Excited to be joining the show! Thanks.” The American Idol official account also shared their well-wishes for Bobby joining.

Just like the upcoming crop of AI contestants, Bobby thought this would be a dream that would never happen for him. “I just feel like it’s too good to be true,” he told the Statesman earlier this month (quote via Austin360.com). “I never thought I would get a call back. Then they called about two months ago and said, ‘We really think this could be something for you.’ … A couple days ago they confirmed it, they want me to do it.”
Bobby joins a star-studded cast for the American Idol revival, as Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie will fill the judges seats this season, and Ryan Seacrest returns as host. The show premieres on March 11.
