The Real Housewives of Atlanta - Season 8
Ahead of the fall debut of The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Season 9, the show was rocked by some major drama! And we’ve gathered all of the wild feuds, shocking breakups and casting issues our favorite Georgia peaches faced in the weeks before filming for the new season reportedly kicked off!
Speaking to OKMagazine.com, Kandi Burruss exposed the possible Season 9 filming schedule, saying that she was planning to begin filming in mid-June. “They kind of keep us in the dark before we start taping. They like to surprise us with things,” she said. And she added that a serious cast shakeup was in the works as well. “Nobody is definite that we know of,” Burruss said. “We haven’t been told of anybody. But we just know that they’ve been talking to somebody. So I’m looking forward to what the new season is going to bring. I’m sure it’s going to be a lot of new friendships."
It was also revealed that NeNe Leakes was working on a deal with Bravo to return full-time to the show. A source told RadarOnline.com that producers were interested in bringing her back because she was a ratings hit during her brief appearances during RHOA’s Season 8! “NeNe has a lot of production deals in the works,” the source said. “And that is what she wants to do, more than just be a housewife but she knows where her money comes from and it comes from Bravo.”
Along with Leakes, RHOA vet Kim Zolciak also faced rumors in June that she was possibly returning to the show for Season 9. And the reports came a few months after she told her Twitter followers that she would consider coming back to the show — especially if Leakes was on the cast as well!
To add to the throwback housewife predictions, Shereé Whitfield’s name was also tossed back onto the list of possible new full-time additions to RHOA. She was a hit with fans during her Season 8 comeback as a part-time housewife. However, she remained quiet on the status of her spot on the cast following the RHOA Season 8 reunion show.

But not all of the RHOA ladies were lucky enough to be facing rumors of a return to the show. Shortly after Season 8 wrapped, Porsha Williams began to face talk that RHOA producers were considering cutting her from the show — mainly over her numerous physical fights during her time as a housewife!
The news wasn’t all bad for Williams, though, seeing that she debuted her rumored new boyfriend on Instagram in June — the same month that her RHOA firing rumors began to grow!
Cynthia Bailey also shocked fans amid the Season 9 casting drama when she confirmed that she was indeed planning to divorce her estranged husband, Peter Thomas, after their lengthy separation.
Bailey’s return to RHOA’s Season 9 remained up in the air at the time of her divorce reveal. However, Thomas took to his Instagram page a few weeks before Bailey's divorce announcement to hint that he was preparing to begin filming for Season 9. And with all the drama that would likely surround the couple’s divorce drama, fans immediately began to speculate at that producers would likely cast Bailey for another season on the show!
Phaedra Parks had arguably one of the most memorable storylines during RHOA’s Season 8. But heading into Season 9, she also faced questions about her status on the show's cast when the Season 9 predictions began to grow once summer kicked off. She offered no hints on her Instagram or Twitter of her plans to begin filming for RHOA in the early months of summer. But many of her fans did note that her lingering feud with Burruss and her issues with her planned divorce from Apollo Nida would possibly secure her at least one more RHOA season!
