Teresa Giudice's Dad Blasts Joe For Not Getting U.S. Citizenship — 'He Did Everything Wrong!'
Teresa Giudice’s dad Giacinto Gorga is not sugar coating how he feels about his son-in-law Joe’s legal and deportation battles. During the Wednesday, November 20, episode of Real Housewives of New Jersey, he shared how he really felt about Joe, 47, never becoming an American citizen.
Giacinto, who was also born in Italy, explained that he previously encouraged Joe to get his U.S. citizenship. “Six times I told him, ‘Go make a citizen.’ ‘Yeah yeah, I’ll go’ — he never did,” he said. “He gotta blame himself.”
At the time, Joe was calling from an ICE detention center in Pennsylvania. The father of four was transferred to the center following his 41-month prison stint for wire, mail and bankruptcy fraud.
According to Joe, the conditions at the detention center were worse than prison, and he had no desire for his daughters to visit. During the phone call, he voiced his frustrations to Teresa.
“They want to separate us now, we’re married 20 years. We got four kids, alright? They want to destroy four kids,” Joe said. “I’m here now and I’m getting deported and that’s all there is to it. It’s over.”

“I don’t see anybody in here walking out. They’re all getting deported,” he continued. “I’m over it. I’d rather be out and see you while I can than be sitting in this friggin’ junk hole. At this point, I don’t care where the hell I go.… I’m going to fight it out a little while later, and then I’m done. That’s it.”
“The phone calls are just getting very draining,” Teresa admitted. “I can’t take all this drama.”
During, a confessional scene, Teresa — who finished her own prison sentence in December 2015 — told viewers that though she could empathize with her husband, she didn’t want him to give up. “We don’t want him to suffer but he’s put us through all this, so he needs to sit there now as long as it takes and fight, especially for his daughters,” she said.
In October 2019, Joe relocated to Italy and will remain there as he awaits a final decision in his deportation case.
