“RIP Uncle Rudy!” the beauty mogul wrote alongside a photo of her Uncle Rudy standing beside his brother (and Rihanna’s father) Ronald Fenty.
The singer received an outpouring of support and love from her fans and celebrity friends after sharing the heartbreaking news. “So sorry for your loss,” one supporter said. “My condolences,” said another. Songwriter Kuk Harrell and supermodel Halima commented on the post with a praying emoji. Singer Sky Days wrote, “Sending love and light.”
While it’s unclear how Rudy passed away, he reportedly was hospitalized at the time of his death.
The death of Rihanna’s family member comes a couple weeks after the star’s Savage x Fenty New York Fashion Week show on September 10 – that later aired on Amazon Prime video on September 20.

Many celebrities including Ashley Graham, Normani, Kacey Musgraves and Gigi Hadid attended the event. DJ Khaled, Big Sean, Migos, Fat Joe, A$AP Ferg, Fabolous and Halsey performed.
Two days later, Rihanna attended her 5th annual Diamond Ball at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on September 12. The glamorous event benefits the Clara Lionel Foundation, which was named after the Grammy winner’s grandparents Clara and Lionel Braithwaite. The funds raised help with global education efforts, health and emergency response programs, and other efforts to support children globally.
“I mean I’m really happy right now,” she told People at the event. “The thing that’s making me the happiest tonight is seeing the amount of support, the magnitude of support is really special.” She added, "I could be out here and throw a ball by myself and I’d feel good, but the thing that’s making me feel this high of cloud 9 is seeing people who believe in my cause and think it’s something worth donating to, something worth investing in."
Rihanna’s fans quickly speculated that she was on “cloud 9” because she’s pregnant but the star has yet to reveal if that is the case.
Although the singer has been dating Saudi businessman Hassan Jameel off and on since 2017, there have been rumors of yet another breakup.
