Kate Middleton and Prince William have welcomed their third child, a baby boy! While the royal family announced the exciting news via social media, it wasn’t truly official until they put a royal announcement on display in front of Buckingham Palace. See the announcement in the pics below!
Kensington Palace announced the royal baby news on behalf of Kate and Will this morning via Twitter, proving that the royal family is quickly moving with the times!
However, following the tweet, the family also had this official announcement placed on a ceremonial easel in front of Buckingham Palace, announcing the news.
“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 11.01 am today,” the announcement read. “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.” The announcement was signed by Kate’s doctors, and will remain in front of the palace for 24 hours.

The announcement noticeably left out the name of Kate and Will’s second son. In the past, it took two days for Kate and Will to reveal Prince George and Prince Charlotte’s names to the public. The Queen is the first person informed of the child’s name.
Kate and Will’s baby boy’s birthday holds special significance for the royal family, as it is St. George’s Day! Not only is George the name of Kate and Will’s first son, but St. George is also the patron saint of England and was named the protector of the royal family during the Middle Ages. He clearly brought them good luck today!
