Vanessa Hudgens, Tinashe & More — See The Star-Studded Cast Of 'Rent' Live Musical

Broadway fans rejoice! The famed rock musical, Rent will be given the TV live-action treatment on Fox and the star-studded cast was just announced. Rent follows a group of down-on their luck New Yorkers who are struggling to survive as artists as they live under the shadow of the AIDS crisis in the late 1980s. Vanessa Hudgens will tackle the role of Maureen Johnson, the feisty bisexual performance artist who’s not afraid to take on the Man. Vanessa also played the role in Rent of Mimi Marquez in the 2010 performance at the Hollywood Bowl.
Tinashe will now star as Mimi, a young dancer diagnosed with AIDS with a drug addiction.
The Flash's Kiersey Clemons as Joanne Jefferson, Maureen’s girlfriend and an Ivy League-educated lawyer.

R&B singer, Mario as Benjamin Coffin III, Mark and Roger’s former roommate-turned-landlord, who demands their rent.
Hamilton star Brandon Victor Dixon as Tom Collins, a gay computer scientist/anarchist professor from MIT. He also has HIV/AIDS.
Jordan Fisher will play Mark Cohen, a Jewish aspiring filmmaker and the narrator of the play. He used to date Maureen.
RuPaul’s Drag Race star Valentina will play Angel Dumont Schunard, a drag queen and street drummer who embraces life. Angel has AIDS and is Tom's love interest.
Singer Brennin Hunt will be portraying Roger Davis, a struggling musician and Mark’s roommate and BFF. He has AIDS due to drugs and falls in love with Mimi.
The show is set to air in January 2019 on Fox.
