Selena Gomez checked into rehab last September, and the singer is finally admitting what she was going through when she made the decision to put her life on hold and enter a treatment center.
At a panel for her upcoming Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, the singer revealed the state her life was in when she signed on to be a producer for the show.
“To be frank with you, I actually was going through a really difficult time when they started production,” the singer said. Soon after production began, Selena checked into rehab, as RadarOnline.com exclusively first reported back in September.
But the time away gave Selena new insight into her show. “I actually met a ton of kids in this place that were talking about issues that these characters are experiencing,” she said.
Of the people she met in rehab, Selena said, “I want to be a part of this show, because I think this is what they want, this is what they need.”
And even though she admitted “people have seen a lot of my mistakes,” she said, “I had to use that as a good thing, because then they’re able to trust me.”
