It was a big night for Selena, as she won the 2017 Billboard Woman of the Year award during the event in Los Angeles.
She brought her best friend Francia, who also happened to present the award to her. Selena’s emotions were quickly on display the minute she got on stage.
“I think Francia should be getting this award,” Selena, said as she broke down in tears. “She saved my life… I feel incredibly lucky.”
Selena, who has been open for a very long time about her battle with lupus, received a lifesaving kidney transplant from Francia over the summer, who volunteered to donate one of hers for her best friend.

Both of them spoke about this on the Today show back in September, where Savannah Guthrie asked Selena, “You feel like Francia saved your life?,” to which she replied “Because she did, that’s it.”
After her emotional moment with Francia on stage, she continued her speech by saying “Honestly, I couldn’t be more grateful for the position that I’ve been given in my career from 7 to 14 to now. I want people to know that I respect the platform that I have so deeply because I knew that I wanted to be a part of something great, I wanted people to feel great.”
She concluded the speech on an upbeat note, exclaiming "I feel like for me, with my music, I’ve been able to illustrate the things that I want. And I’m reminded by a team of people who believe in me even when I don’t myself and I couldn’t be more luckier.”
