Shannen Doherty To Guest Star In 'Riverdale' Episode Honoring The Late Luke Perry

Shannen Doherty took to social media on Sunday, July 21, to announce that she will be a special guest on a Riverdale episode that will honor the late Luke Perry.
Shannon, 48, talked about her new role on Riverdale and what an honor it is to pay tribute to her old friend, Luke, 52 — who passed away on March 4 after suffering from a massive stroke.
"I am deeply honored to pay tribute to Luke on Riverdale," the actress wrote on Instagram.
"The care in which this show takes in honoring his memory is beautiful. He is missed. Today. Tomorrow. Forever," she added.
On the same day, the the show’s creator, Robert Aguirre-Sacasa, revealed details about the upcoming episode at Riverdale's Comic Con panel. He added that the tribute in season four will “reflect Perry’s enduring legacy and the indelible imprint his character,” Fred Andrews had on the show.

According to Variety, Shannen's cameo is “very emotional” and was “something that Luke wanted to happen since season one.”
“They were such good friends, and when we were putting together this tribute episode, we wanted to make it as special as possible, and so we asked Shannen to do a pivotal, super-emotional role. She read the script and immediately said, ‘Yes.’ It’s very impactful,'" Robert said at Comic Con.
As fans know, Shannen and Luke starred on Beverly Hills, 90210 together from 1990 to 2000.
Luke's tribute episode is titled "In Memoriam" and will kick off season four on Wednesday, October 9.
