Shawn Mendes sat down with The Project and finally opened up about the engagement of his rumored ex, Hailey Baldwin, and her fiancé Justin Bieber. Read on to see what the “Stitches” singer had to say!
As OK! readers will remember, Hailey and Shawn attended the 2018 Met Gala together back in May. This extremely public outing kicked the rumor mill into high gear, but the two insisted that they were “single.”
Back in May, Shawn said that was while he was happy to walk the red carpet with her, they were just “really good friends.”
Hailey and Justin announced their engagement earlier this month and fans have speculated that this surprise decision to tie the knot has ignited a feud between the pop stars.

However, during his talk with The Project, the 19-year-old sets the record straight. He insists that there’s no bad blood between him and his fellow Canadian. He even admits that the other man “was a massive influence for him growing up.”
He then went on to share exactly what he did upon receiving the big news. "I texted Hailey the day of and I said 'congrats' and yeah, that's what it is, I think everybody wants there to be more...there's not,” he said.
