Shay Mitchell is embracing motherhood. On December 10, the Pretty Little Liars actress shared a picture of herself breastfeeding her newborn daughter, Atlas. She welcomed her first child on October 20 with her boyfriend Matte Babel.
The Canada native posed in an emerald green robe and black underwear. She held her newborn to her breast and captioned the social media update, ”Breast friends forever.”
Fans loved the glamorous shot of the actress. “BOSS,” one impressed follower wrote. “I love it! Normalize breastfeeding,” another chimed in. “Mom of the year,” a third wrote. Many fans called Shay beautiful, and left heart and fire emojis in the comments section.
Shay revealed that she was pregnant with Atlas in June. She announced the exciting news on Instagram in a topless photoshoot. “Does this mean I’m allowed to drive in the carpool lane at all times now?” she joked. The You actress suffered a miscarriage in 2018, and was overjoyed to learn she was expecting again.
In November, the Dollface actress spoke about how she picked out her daughter’s unique name during an interview with Vogue. "A close friend of ours was listing off names for her daughter that she had had a year and a half ago. Then she said, 'Atlas' and I looked at Matte, and he looked at me, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh.'”
Shay continued, “It’s just the perfect name; from that day, we knew it was going to be Atlas. People would ask us, ‘Do you have a name?’ But we were keeping it hidden. I’m sorry to everybody that I lied to!”
The model also gushed about how wonderful it is experiencing motherhood firsthand after seeing her friends start families. “My best friend who lives in Vancouver, and she had her daughter last May, and I’ve watched her raise her. So now to have our kids be close in age is incredible. It’s funny because all my friends have had little girls.”
She added, “When I found out that we were having ours, I was just super excited because we are a close group of families, and hopefully our daughters will be another little close group of friends as well, growing up.”
