The Real Housewives of Atlanta is about to get an extra dose of drama now that Shereé Whitfield is officially back on the series. But Whitfield didn’t make her return easy for Bravo, with the beloved RHOA star landing a major paycheck to seal her reality TV comeback!
According to a source speaking to RadarOnline.com, producers were desperate to “bring the drama” after NeNe Leakes’ shocking exit from the show.
Whitfield’s return has been teased for the past few seasons of RHOA. And the source said she made sure the network paid up in order for her to sign on after several seasons away from the show, ultimately landing a paycheck that was over two times what she was initially offered.
“At the height of Shereé’s four seasons, she was making around $350,000,” the source said. “Producers initially offered $100,000, and Shereé balked at the insulting offer. Finally, the contract was signed for $250,000, with an option to do another season at a higher salary.”
The insider said that Whitfield was very pleased with the final offer and is now “happy to have a regular paycheck again and have the platform of the show to promote her various projects."
There were also concerns that Whitfield would be a little difficult when it came to filming. But the source said there have yet to be any issues on set with her and the crew. “Real Housewives of Atlanta is the crown jewel in Bravo’s crown, and it has always been a ratings hit. Bringing back Shereé could be a headache for the crew behind the scenes, but she has really matured since the time she was initially on,” the insider said.
Filming for RHOA’s eighth season has already kicked off, with the ladies reuniting over the weekend at the launch party for Cynthia Bailey’s eyewear line. Along with Bailey and Whitfield, Porsha Williams, Phaedra Parks, Kenya Moore and Kandi Burruss were all in attendance. And reports claim some of the ladies are already at odds, with Whitfield and Moore allegedly getting into an argument at the event!
