Tarek El Moussa doesn’t give up easily! The Flip or Flop star and girlfriend Heather Rae Young went public with their relationship last month, but in a new interview he revealed that he had the hots for her for way longer.
“I asked her out a while back and she had a boyfriend so she couldn’t go out with me,” Tarek shared, 38, in an interview with Fox News.
Though Heather, 31, is also a member of the HGTV family and has her own show called Selling Sunset, Tarek pointed out that the two of them didn’t meet through real estate. However, he didn’t reveal what caused them to cross paths.
Tarek didn’t let the sting of rejection get him down and when he asked her out again much later, he was successful. “I randomly ran into her with some friends and I asked her out and she said yes!” he said.

The lovebirds were first spotted engaging in some major PDA on July 29. Eyewitnesses saw them kissing and cuddling on a yacht in Redondo Beach, California.
On August 8, Tarek confirmed the relationship with a sweet post on Instagram. “It’s official!!!! After more than 3 years on my own I’m so PROUD to say that this beautiful, sweet and talented young lady is my girlfriend!” the father of two gushed. “I’ll be honest and say I never thought I would meet someone special in my life after the last three years.”
Before he found love with Heather, Tarek was married to Flip or Flop costar Christina Anstead. The pair separated in 2016. Christine married new husband Ant Anstead in December 2018 in a surprise wedding ceremony at their home.
