Josie Duggar just celebrated her ninth birthday, and while it's a milestone for any child, it’s particularly special for her. Nine years ago, Michelle Duggar gave birth to her baby girl nearly 15 weeks premature. Weighing just 1 pound 6 ounces, doctors and nurses worked overtime to save the youngest Duggar child’s life. In honor of Josie’s birthday, the Duggars took to Instagram to reflect on the scary time and thank God for her miraculous survival.

The Duggar family shared a photo of Josie in the hospital during that frightening time nearly a decade ago. “Josie was born on December 10, 2009 at 25 ½ weeks gestation and weighed 1 pound 6 ounces,” they captioned a photo of the newborn Josie in the hospital.
“Today is a huge milestone for her, she is a healthy happy 9 year old that is full of energy,” the post continued.

The family added, “We are so thankful for everyone’s prayers and all of the doctors and nurses at Arkansas Children’s Hospital that saved her life. That was the most difficult time in our family’s life, but by God’s grace Josie and our whole family made it through!”
Sister Jill commented on the post, writing, “Such a miracle! And all those prayers for her to be a fighter and have energy to pull through the difficult days in the NICU have stuck with her…lol…she’s got the curls to go with her spunky personality!”
These days, Josie continues to impress. She appears with her cousins on the family album Happy Heart, and she recently made her solo singing debut at the show Freedom Journey in Branson, MO, where she sang the National Anthem.
