Keith Flint, who was the lead singer and dancer of one of the biggest British bands in history, The Prodigy, was pronounced dead by the British police on Monday, March 4. He was just 49 years old. Scroll through for all the details.
On Monday, March 4, Keith's good friend and fellow band member, Liam Howlett took to Instagram to confirm the news and explain the cause of death.
"The news is true, I can't believe I'm saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend," Liam, 47, wrote on the electric group's official Instagram. "I'm shell shocked, f**king angry, confused and heart broken. R.I.P brother, Liam."
While Liam has announced his bandmate's death was due to suicide British authorities have not confirmed. That being said, not long before Liam's Instagram post, the police did say that Keith was found unresponsive at his house in Essex, England and his sudden death is "not being treated as suspicious," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Prodigy's official Twitter account also commented on the 49-year-old's tragic death. "It is with deepest shock and sadness that we can confirm the death of our brother and best friend Keith Flint," They wrote. "A true pioneer, innovator and legend. He will be forever missed. We thank you for respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time."
As fans know, Liam joined The Prodigy not long after Liam started the band in 1990 and was a big factor in bringing the electric dance group to fame within the British rave scene. Many say, the band was the most well-known and successful Big Beat groups of the '90s. Along with Keith and Liam, is their third bandmate Keith Palmer aka Maxim.
The group had previously announced their 2019 touring schedule to various festivals in Europe and South America as their latest album No Tourists was released in November 2018. Stay tuned for updates.
