Monday night at the world premiere for the new comedy Fist Fight in New York City, Tracy Morgan opened up about his tragic accident in 2014.

The comedian filmed Fist Fight in late 2015. It was his first big project since his near-fatal car accident, where a truck driver slammed into his limousine on the New Jersey Turnpike. Morgan needed extensive therapy after the accident.

At the premiere, accompanied by his wife Megan and their daughter Maven, Morgan said, “I am just happy to be alive. The key thing for me was to forgive that driver."

Filming the comedy, in which he plays a high school sports coach, was a great healing experience for Morgan. “I was able to just start being funny again,” he said.
