US Women’s National Team Celebrates World Cup Championship At NYC Ticker-Tape Parade

Thousands of fans gathered in Lower Manhattan on July 10 to celebrate the US Women’s National Team’s fourth World Cup Title. The US team beat Netherlands 2-0 on Sunday, July 7 for their fourth title.
Crowds cheered and applauded the soccer team, as floats weaved throughout the Financial District.
As she rocked red-framed sunglasses with champagne in hand, Megan Rapinoe, one of the team’s captains, signed autographs, laughed and celebrated the US Women’s team victory.
The team was all smiles as they popped champagne and waved at fans.
Megan and her co-captains Alex Morgan, Carli Lloyd and Becky Sauerbrunn rode on a float with Mayor de Blasio.

Floats were decorated with the USA team logo, which has three stars on the top of it. A fourth gold star was added to commemorate this year’s title. They previously won in 2015, 1991 and 1999.
The Canyon of Heroes runs from Battery Park north towards City Hall.
Manhattan hosted over 200 ticker-tape parades since 1886, and each celebration is marked by a strip of granite along the parade route.
