Sharks Vs. Jets! Filming For Steven Spielberg's 'West Side Story' Remake Begins In Harlem — See The Pics!

The cast of the upcoming West Side Story remake was spotted in Harlem, New York on July 14. Steven Spielberg’s latest film “explores forbidden love, and the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds,” as the 1961 movie did.
The cast of the Shark Gang donned blue jeans and dirty shirts with slicked back hair. They carried paint cans and walked through the streets of Harlem.
Girls wore bright colorful dresses reminiscent of the original film. They had their hair curled and pinned back.
Ariana Debose, who takes on the iconic role of Anita, dazzled onset in a yellow sundress on the as steps of an apartment building.
The Jaws director, 72, rocked a Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses along with his iconic baseball cap look.

Steven was visited on set by Oscar-winning director Spike Lee as they chatted in between takes, who wore all-white with a Yankees baseball cap.
Ansel Egort portrays Tony and newcomer Rachel Zegler stars alongside him as Maria. The West Side Story remake is slated to premiere in December 2o20.
Rita Moreno, who won the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her portrayal as Anita in the 1961 film, will be part of the remake as well. This time around, she will be in charge of the drugstore and Tony’s boss – a reimagined Doc character.
