Former WWE Star Ashley Massaro Dies At Age 39

Former WWE star Ashley Massaro died on May 16. The wrestler was just 39 years old and would have turned 40 later this month. She is survived by her daughter, 18-year-old Alexa. Scroll through for more details.
Ashley was rushed to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The Suffolk County Police Department told PEOPLE the cause of death is unknown.
The former WWE wrestler took the stage as a Diva for three years. The organization said in a statement, “We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro. She performed in WWE from 2005-2008 and was beloved by her fellow Superstars and fans around the world. WWE offers its condolences to Ashley’s family and friends.”
Ashley’s daughter Alexa took to Instagram and shared a red carpet photo with her mom. She wrote, “I love you mommy I want to wake up in your arms more than anything I want to give you a big hug please come back this can’t be real.”

She continued, “Please God this can’t be.”
The 39-year-old wrestler was due to appear for a meet and greet during her 40th birthday weekend later this month for the organization Starrcast. Ashley commented on her mom’s Instagram photo promoting the event, “We were going to go together please come back, mom.”
“Everyone at Starrcast would like to extend our sincere condolences to the friends, family, fans & colleagues of Ashley Massaro. We were looking forward to sharing next week with her & are extremely saddened by her passing. We join the wrestling community in honoring her memory,” they said in a statement.
Ashley’s last post on social media was on May 15. She took to Twitter and shared a photo of letters from her supporters. She revealed, “Just answered a ton of fan mail so you guys should be receiving them soon! Love ya punx??.”
