Yara Shahidi Goes Makeup Free In New Instagram Photo
Yara Shahidi is rocking a fresh face in new photos! The Grown-ish star, 19, recently shared two makeup-free selfies on Instagram on Sunday, November 17 with a heartfelt empowering message about embracing your flaws.
“Happy Sunday from me and my skin that I’ve committed to love in every and all states with travel + work + 24/7 in makeup I have to actively remind myself to not sweat the details (aka the blemishes) and reframe it as a reminder to make sure I’m taking care of myself,” Yara wrote in the caption.
The Black-ish actress received an outpour of support from her famous friends such as Zoe Kravitz, who wrote, “You’re such a beauty sis.” Singer and actress Janelle Monae also left a comment stating, “I love you, I needed this post. T.Y.” Stylist Samantha McMillen left a supportive comment as well. “Beauty with a beautiful message," she typed.
The actress has always been a supporter of embracing her natural looks. Yara's Instagram feed is a balanced mix of red-carpet glamour shots and relatable behind-the-scenes photos.
In August 2019, the actress posed unretouched for her Harper’s Bazaar cover. The actress rocked natural curls and dewy skin for the shoot. She also spoke about diversity—or lack thereof—in the beauty industry. Earlier this year, she became a Bobbi Brown Cosmetics ambassador and starred in the iconic makeup brand’s extended shade range campaign

“I love that more brands are doing this,” the actress told the beauty giant, according to PEOPLE. “There have been times when I got out of the makeup chair and my skin looked gray. It’s why I think every single person of color usually brings their own makeup kit to set.”
Yara’s barefaced photoshoot followed in the footsteps of other celebrities who have also posed fresh-faced including Serena Williams and Alicia Keys. The two women have been actively embracing their natural selves and speaking out against photoshopping.
Aside from promoting natural beauty, the actress is heavily involved in the community via her activism efforts. In early November, the Eighteenx18 founder got on camera sporting a fresh face and high-pigtail buns to encourage fans to get out and vote.
“ELECTION DAY TUESDAY. State and local elections are being held this Tuesday each deeply influencing policy that affects our every day lives! I want to see those “I Voted Sticker” selfies tomorrow info in herInstagram Story #WEVOTENEXT,” Yara captioned her Instagram post.
