Designer Christian Siriano Reveals the Song He'd Walk Down the Runway To—And His Answer Is SO Sweet!
We really can’t help but to assume that the entirety of Christian Siriano’s Spring 2015 collection will be making a debut on the red carpet this upcoming awards season. After all, the venue of the line’s NYFW introduction was already star-studded with favorites from Mena Suvari to Jada Pinkett-Smith to the face of his new fragrance, Coco Rocha.
And after dressing celebs from Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland to Orange Is the New Black’s Uzo Aduba at the 2014 Emmy Awards, Christian Siriano’s name is mentioned more than not around the glam cam.
So what’s in store for Spring 2015? Unlike last year’s line filled with colorful and textured textiles reminiscent of his trip to Mexico, Christian pulled together an unbelievably fluid glass-sculpture-inspired line that felt icy cool.

We caught up with the designer who gave us the scoop on everything from his NYFW line to the TV fashion he’s really intrigued by.
OK! Magazine: What will we find in your new collection?
Christian Siriano: It’s inspired by glass sculpture artist Sergio Redegalli and also Tara Donovan. Sergio’s work is in the Adelaide Gardens in Australia, and all the sculptures are basically made out of glass and mirror. So the idea was about the layering of the textures and the transparency that they created on top of one another and then about reflection. They are all on top of water, so it was about how the colors reflected in each shape. I wanted the collection to have that feeling that is sculptural but still have some ideas of transparency and kind of liquid and long and lean and lustrous as well. I still wanted them to have volume and sculpture but feel light and effortless at the same time.
OK!: That’s exactly what you want in the spring and summer.
CS: Yeah. The palettes are pretty cleansed in the beginning and we kind of end it in a world of blues, and that was kind of the idea. We kind of create and cut glass crystals all over a lot of the pieces, obviously to create something a little bit more evening for my customer.
OK!: So you dressed so many celebrities at the Emmys. They looked wonderful. Do you have any TV characters or movie characters that really inspire you by the way they are dressed?

CS: I have so many. I’m really into House of Cards. You know what’s interesting? Even someone like a Kerry Washington on Scandal—I’m kind of into these power women dressing for some reason. Even though necessarily my collection doesn’t really have anything to do with that. I just think when I watch a show and I see these strong women characters in these powerful clothes, that’s what I’m kind of into right now.
OK!: So now that you have a fragrance out, what’s something you want to do next?
CS: The fragrance was launching, which was really exciting. We are launching eyewear with a company called EyeFly, so we’ll see new sunglasses today on the runway, which is exciting. That will launch this fall. That’s my next project.
OK!: What’s the one article of clothing from your childhood that you will never forget?
CS: I had a pair of slip-on boat shoes. I’m from Annapolis, Maryland. They were striped. I wore them every single day for a very long time when I should not have. Years probably.
OK!: What’s the one song you’d walk down the runway to?
CS: I would say anything by my fiancé Brad Walsh because he always does the music for the show, and I love what he does.
OK!: Finish this sentence: Style is…
CS: Always evolving.
OK!: What’s the book that changed your life?
CS: A World of Normal Boys.
