Can’t make it to NYC for Fashion Week? Don’t worry, OK!’s got you covered! Yesterday, we headed over to check out Marchesa's latest creations and got at sneak peek at the designer’s spring collection and loved every minute!
SHOW: Marchesa Presentation
WHEN: Sept. 15, 2010
WHO: Jessica Szohr, Kelly Osbourne, Molly Sims, Olivia Palermo and Petra Nemcova.
FASHION: The Marchesa booklet described the new Spring 2011 collection as an, “Orientalist inspired journey filled with and painted silk drapes and ornate hand embroidered jeweled accents.” The most impressive dress collection at fashion week was once again at the only fitting venue: The Chelsea Art Museum. The clothes are truly works of art and no runway show would do them justice. Even the stars ooh'ed and ahh'ed, and walked around the gowns to get a full panoramic view. The red carpet gowns included a color palette of mint, deep purple, navy blue, white, pastel peach and metallic gold and silver with some mint accents and black detail. Hand-painted flowers were a signature on many of the gowns, making them truly works of art, while others were elaborately hand-beaded. Their signature fabrics of tulle, lace, silk, chiffon and organza were draped, pleated, ruffled, embroidered and sculpted into intricate designs created for the red carpet.
BEAUTY: Hair by Renato Campora for Frederic Fekkai: tight buns high up. Makeup: Talia Shobrook for Le Metier De Beaute: Rosy lips and a minimal base.
— Kelly Osborne was given first look in the showroom to choose a Marchesa dress to wear to the presentation. “That’s never happened before and especially for Marchesa I just couldn’t believe it!” she gushed to OK!. “They are the most stunning dresses I’ve seen so far this season.” The former Dancing With the Stars alum also told OK! she’ll most likely be in the audience to cheer on this season’s contestants.
— Gossip Girl star Jessica Szohr told OK! there were about four dresses she wanted to wear on the carpet – and she hadn’t even made it through half of the presentation! “I’m going to eat, live, sleep in this dress,” Jessica told OK! of her liquid silver Marchesa frock she was wearing.
— Co-designer Georgina Chapman, who gave birth just weeks ago to baby girl India Pear on Aug. 29 looked incredible in tight waist-hugging black gown. Her proud husband Harvey Weinstein was there mingling with friends and media.
— Guests went home with Frederic Fekkai mousse (Fekkai himself came to the presentation!) and Le Metier De Beaute lip gloss.
