Can’t make it to NYC for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week? Don’t worry, OK!’s got you covered! Yesterday we checked out Betsey Johnson’s runway show for a sneak peek at the designer’s collection and loved every minute of it!
SHOW: Betsey Johnson
WHEN: February 14, 2011
WHO: Robert Verdi, June Ambrose, Miss J. Alexander and Jill Zarin.
FASHION: The show's title "He Loves Me," was themed perfectly for Valentine's Day. All of show's designs had names that double as pop tunes like "Kiss From A Rose," "Killing Me Softly," "Wind Beneath My Wings," "The Way You Look Tonight," and "Wild Thing." Looks had a gothic tone with black and scarlet red contrasts, red and mustard rose shoulder details attached, plaid and black corsets, red plaid suits, red cheetah tights, a black sequin short dress, purple accents, velvet fabric capes and dresses, cheetah fur detailed jackets and a full cheetah party skirt, faux-fur jackets and green animal print flowy dresses with turquoise flower accents, a purple ballerina inspired dress and 90s-inspired suits and shoulder-pads.

BEAUTY: The looks were the most dramatic we've seen so far. Dark blue eye shadow covering the whole lid with deep red lips. All of the models wore short black bob wigs with bangs, sleek straight with a single black lace band. Make up by Charlotte Willer and hair by Peter Gray for Redken. Nails by Nonie Creme for Butter London.
COLOR/OVERHEARD: Betsey Johnson is always one of the most fun shows of fashion week. Guests were pleased to see gift bags on every seat before the show that included Redken hair spray and shine, Betsey Johnson socks, skinny Diet Pepsi cans and Maybelline mascara. Front row guests were all given Ken dolls. Consolation for any lonely folks on Valentine's Day, perhaps? Stylists Robert Verdi, June Ambrose and Miss J all sat next to each other. A photographer came up to them before the show asking if he could "take a picture of all the girls."

Meanwhile, famed photographer Patrick McMullan took a seat next to the bunch, proving he's a front row celebrity himself. At the end of the show, Betsey Johnson's closest staff of 51 walked the runway in her designs and sleek platinum blond wigs. They danced down the runway and it was no doubt it was the most fun day at work they've had all year. Betsey Johnson came out at the end dancing with her partner to the oldies tune "It's In His Kiss" and even did a cartwheel down the runway.
