High Ratings Could Not Save Bill O'Reilly — He's Let Go From Fox News Channel After Major Sex Scandal
Not even Bill O'Reilly's high talk show ratings could save him. The O'Reilly Factor host was released from his position at Fox News on Wednesday after being a part of the network for over 20 years. Rupert Murdoch's son James and Lachlan reportedly urged their father to let Bill go amid numerous sexual harassment allegations.
For weeks, it's been a question as to whether or not the claims would be enough for Fox News to turn their back on Bill, and it seems like the reported $13 million spent in settlements was enough to sever ties.

While news about Bill's release from the network emerged, he was in Vatican City meeting Pope Francis.
Rupert’s announcement came in the form of a letter, and stated, in part, “We’d like to address questions about Bill O’Reilly’s future at Fox News. After a thorough and careful review of allegations against him, the Company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Mr. O’Reilly will not return to the Fox News Channel.”
