Watch: Cynthia Nixon's Concession Speech After The NY Primary
New York held its primary election for the gubernatorial race yesterday, September 13, and the results are in — Andrew Cuomo will be moving forward on his path towards a third term.
According the polls, Andrew had a sizable lead over his opponent, Sex & The City alum Cynthia Nixon. In the end, the current governor snagged 65.6% of the vote, while his competitor grabbed 34.4%.
After the race was called and the winner was declared, the actress-turned politician took to the podium to provide her supporters with a rallying and hopeful concession speech.
She later posted a slew of Twitter updates echoing her sentiments.
She wrote in part, “While the result tonight wasn’t what we had hoped for, I’m not discouraged. I’m inspired. I hope you are too. We have fundamentally changed the political landscape in this state. This isn’t just a symbolic victory. This campaign forced the Governor to make concrete commitments that will change the lives of people across this state.”
