Inside Joy-Anna Duggar’s Wedding Dress Nightmare
It was seriously like a scene from Say Yes To The Dress as the Duggar girl gang gathered to help Joy-Anna find her wedding dress.
The ladies traveled to Mount Sterling, Kentucky to visit Renee’s Bridal in hopes of getting Joy’s wedding dress. However, the family quickly learned that Joy’s lack of enthusiasm for clothes shopping even transferred into wedding dress shopping.
“With Joy’s personality type she doesn’t really love shopping. She’s never loved shopping,” her sister Jessa said. “When all of us older girls would be like, ‘Let’s go clothing shopping,’ she’d say, ‘How long are we going to be out?’ ”
“I’m not excited about shopping,” Joy-Anna confirmed.
Even when her family tried to liven up the mood by asking which dress she wanted to try on first Joy simply laughed and said, “Whatever. I don’t care.”
“Joy does not enjoy shopping for the most part. It’s not quite her thing,” Jinger added. “So I figured it’d be the same with wedding dresses."
However, Joy later explained she was just full of emotions.
“I felt lost and got overwhelmed,” Joy said. “A lot of things were going on and I was getting emotional.”
“I called Austin and was like, ‘I don’t know what I want, and I feel bad because I don’t think any of these dresses are going to work, and Miss Renee has been working for such a long time,’” she added.
However, things seemed to turn around after Joy spoke to her hubby-to-be, Austin Forsyth.
“Austin’s my best friend and I just needed to hear his voice,” she said after Austin spoke a few “words of encouragement” to help her relax.
It was smooth sailing then as joy ended up picking the fourth dress option – with a twist, as grandma Duggar spotted a dress on the rack that had a skirt that caught her eye. While the top was a little too revealing for Duggar standards, Renee simply switched it out and voila – Joy’s wedding dress was complete!
